Moonlight Garden thoughts

Aaaahh I just found Moonlight Garden yesterday and I am in heaven. It hits quite a few of my buttons, while so far (I’m only at chapter 52 as of right now) not hitting any of my squicks too badly. The “death by the flower poison” is okay for me since thankfully, while I saw it described as hanahaki disease, no one coughs up literal petals or flowers.

The soft “third form of biological (female) sex” that the flower maidens are and the heat trope is delightful, as is the “needs to fuck or they will die” (I mean they will die in the end either way but in the meantime...) is so good too.

And the characters!! Dohwa is plucky and delightful and foolish, and both Yoosun and Hyewon are great. I know canon is probably against me but OT3 when I love Dohwa’s dynamic with both of them. c:

 

For some more... hypothetical/speculative worldbuilding headcanon thoughts, aside from Dohwa’s potential antidote, considering the sex anyone so far has had with a flower maiden has simply been fingering or rarely cunnilingus, what if scissoring during bloom meant the flower maiden’s partner would be knocked up - with twins, where one would always be a flower maiden and the other a normal girl, and this is why any sort of vulva-to-vulva contact doesn’t happen, especially not during a flower maiden’s bloom (I may just be missing this form of sex, because yes, I think it’s hot, AND it allows for mutual pleasure plus rough fucking etc.)
The reason to do this? If a flower maiden knocks someone up like this (or they get knocked up if you want to reverse it and it’s them that’ll get pregnant from this sort of sex), is that reproducing will keep them from dying around 30

So of course this is forbidden so hard until it’s not known because firstly TWINS (harbringers of catastrophe as they seem to be for whatever reason) and also it leaves less control of the flower maidens... and while it seems the kingdom is pretty much woman-controlled, I’m pretty sure the men wouldn’t be pleased to be made completely obsolete.

Unrelatedly related to this, I find it quite curious that, in a lot of cases of tropes like this (or a woman going to a sex worker in fic), the one girl is getting fucked via hand/mouth until she’s a mess and the other is left with nothing and it’s like... all of them can’t be the sort of butch that get enjoyment/can come from DOING and not getting touched at all... where’s the scissoring, or the 69′ing?? Get you some pleasure yourself, at the same time, too! Also it seems kind of a waste not to have them as lustful for touching their partner as getting fucked...
